Our Tag Line

Good morning!!

I held a jewelry bar this past weekend, and again I was fortunate to meet some very nice ladies. Helping them to create a locket with charms that have meaning to them , again, is so rewarding! Birthstones are my most popular charms.  Wearing a locket with all your children or grandchildrens birthstones close to heart, will make you feel all warm and fuzzy! What other jewelry will do that?

I would like to share a picture with you of my locket, but my new camera is not cooperating to upload pics from the new program. Again, I'm still learning how to do new things.

But my locket is a medium Rose Gold, it has birthstones for all my grandchildren , at this time it has 7 and I'll be adding 2 new ones this year. I also have a little silver heart that says Nana, and a dangle clipped to the chain with the tree of life on one side and "Life is a gift" written on the other side. Can you picture it?

I also love the new Tag line we rolled out in November, very popular with teens and young adults!

This is just an example of what others have made. Thankfully I already had them on my computer.
What would you choose for your statement, using our TAG line?
Hope you all have a super day! maybe next time, I'll have this camera figured out :)

My Book

Good morning! I think I mentioned it before, that I kind of wrote a book. Not a story book, but a useful book, which will help you to keep all your website info together. It took a while to write, edit, rewrite and edit again...and I learned a lot of things along the way. Not as easy as you would think. But after playing with it, publishing it, and receiving my first copy, I realized it I had forgot a few things, .. like my name!
So I had to edit and receive another copy and I'm happy to say, It's done, and is now available on Amazon.com.
Anyone with a business or just anyone for that matter, who works or plays online, has lots of different websites they may interact with in any given day. I've always had a little notebook to keep all that important stuff in. Account info, security questions, company phone numbers, notes ect.. So please check it out, the link is on the right. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do!
---------------------
I'm still learning this blog thing, trying to get my page the way I want, learning how to do new things when I'm technologically  challenged. But I'm having fun. Anyone who knows me, knows I usually just say what I want. But I'm working on my blog, thinking of dedicating 3 days a week to specific things on certain days. I hope you'll stay with me as I learn and grow .

As always, I wish you to have a super day!!

I'd like to share a story about one of my customers. He's  a truck driver! He's on the road driving across the good ole USA delivery products, about 4 weeks at a time,  obviously he's not home much. But back home is a woman he really cares about. So since he was going to be on the road during Valentines Day, he called me and I helped him to create a locket for her. I can't tell you .. again.... how rewarding and heartwarming it is, doing this business.
It takes time to look through the charms and pick out just the right ones to fit that persons personality and match up the things in their life. After picking out a birthstone, a medical charm,  a silver cross and initals, we had to pick a locket. I love the Rose Gold. It's shiny and beautiful and I love the way it looks with the charms. Once it was done, I sent him pictures of it to get his approval! He loved it too :)  So I packaged it up, put in a little note   from  him, and mailed it.
She was thrilled, and all her friends loved it, she even posted pics of it! Which just warms my heart ! And that is another reason why I love this business!

Business is good! I'm meeting a lot of nice woman and I'm having so much fun helping them to earn free jewelry, or to help them start their own business with Origami Owl Custom Jewelry. I must say it truly is rewarding! Where else can you meet new people, make them smile, and make a nice income while working from home on your own time? With so many companies closing down or moving out of our country, good jobs are scarce, and daycare is expensive. I think more and more people, are looking for a way to stay home with their kids. I think there is less stress involved with home business too. You can schedule your appointments around your business and not worry about the "boss" giving you grief for missing work, after all, YOU are your own boss.

I wanted to make a blog to promote my business. I still haven't shared my blog yet, because I'm not done setting it up. Technology always gets the best of me. But as with most things, I'm learning as I go. My friend Robyn has a great blog, I love the way it looks and she's such a great writer. I hope to not bore you all in the future, and I give you a reason to keep coming back.

In the meantime, as I had said before, I always promote my favorite websites, ect.. so if you have time, please check out Robyn's blog, I really believe you'll enjoy it.  http://robynlindsey.com/

I guess that's all for today. See you soon :)

Sometimes, things don't always go the way we want. I seem to struggle finding my place in this world. As you know, I like to keep busy. I love to socialize. I love meeting new people. But some situations terrify me. I try to "fit in" but I become uncomfortable. Other times, I feel right at home, depending on the situation.

When I'm quiet,  I don't always have a lot to say. People then think I'm snobby or sad,  I'm not snobby or sad. I'm just quiet. Why do people have to pre-judge? Why can't they just get to know me first?

I used to be a lot of fun. (Funny, "used" to be. ) I still am!!. Especially when I'm around people I know, people I'm familiar with. I love to joke around, I LOVE to laugh. I know my attitude has changed. It happens when things happen in your life you have no control over it.
But I try. I'm actually a very fun positive kind of person. I try to keep my private life private. Funny, since I'm now venting on a blog. lol

I'm trying to socialize more. Trying new events, trying new websites to promote my business. Since it's hard for me to actually get out into the world, the web has become my outlet. Someday things will change.
But for now, I struggle to fit in. I stay busy.I'm trying new things. oh BTW, I just wrote 2 books. Well actually one, but 2 different versions. And it's not really a book you read, like a story, but more of a help book.

My Favorite Websites  & Websites, Passwords, E-mails and more  is not available yet. But will be on Amazon. It's just a book to keep all your passwords and website info.

I got the idea one night, while rewriting my own little notebook that I keep all that info in. I figured why not? My friend Robyn wrote a few books, and she's always encouraged me to write something. I started a recipe book on family recipes I've used and made, but still haven't finished it. But I finished my 2 books in a week. So, I'm proud of myself.

Well, enough for today. I have things to do. Hope you all have a super day!!

It's Monday

It's Monday. Yup, a new week. My weekend had some challenges. Some with family, some with trying to catch up with friends, some with trying to make a book. Not write a book, but I'm trying to make a useful book. And yes, of course I'll share, when it's done.

I know at times I take on too much. Well at least it feels that way. I have my Mom I care for, she lives with us, I try to stay connected with fiends and family, make time for my husband, and sometimes my grandson stops in and spends the night. I'm also trying to build my business and help others with theirs.  Of course there's keeping up with e-mails ( I have 4) feeding the dog and cats, doing housework ect... (sigh) Sometimes it seems like I'm always busy, but nothing gets accomplished. I guess I'm just having " one of those days."

But it's Monday, the laundry is almost done, I closed on a party, gave my grandson a ride to school, folded clothes and I actually put them away, not just left folded on the bureau because I got distracted. I'm also  trying to clean the clutter, ( do you have clutter?) I have no idea where it comes from, but it's got to go! So I have someone coming to get some of my clutter. I'm sure they'll make good use of it, and I can check that off my list.

My goals for the week are to help 3 people get started with their own business. This is my favorite part. It's so exciting! And I want to finish my "book". I also put on my (to do) list, to find a computer class to help me learn how to use WORD or NOTEPAD or EXCEL , well you know what I mean. If I'm going to work on the web, I guess it's time to learn a few things. And to think, back in high school, I was so mad, because we had to buy a calculater, ( which were expensive back then) and I couldn't understand why we had to use a calculater, instead of our brains. I bet most kids have no idea how to divide on paper. I think computers are bad. But, it's so common now, it's hard to be without one. I'm just as guilty.

Seems like I was more organized when I had 3 kids to pick up/ drop off at scouts , basketball, friends, and work 3 jobs. But those days are gone. I love my time at home, I love being with my mom, I love being able to work from home, but I sure don't like being so unorganized. Have you ever heard the saying.. " The faster I go, the behinder I get" ? That's me lately.

We've had a mild winter, but I'm axiously waiting for spring to get here. I want to start on my garden. Then the caring of the garden and the compost bin, and mowing and picking of flowers and planning cookouts with friends and family. Ahhh I must say, I love staying busy !!

So may we all have a productive week. Time to add to my To Do List :)

Learning something new

I admit, I don't know a lot about computers, but I can get around them ok. I'm always willing to learn something new. Today, I'm learning how to use the web to my advantage. Researching to see how I can build my business across the nation , help others to do the same, and not just stay in my backyard. Years ago, we had a phone ( and paid for long distance calls which was anything outside our town) and we had a car and yes we wrote with pen and ink and mailed letters too.  So if we wanted to see someone, or talk to them, it was almost cheaper to take that Sunday drive and just go visit them.

I have friends all over the USA. I LOVE meeting new people. I love to hear about where they live, what they do, what their town is like. People interest me, which is another reason why I love having a home business.  I can connect to so many different people. TheWeb can be a wonderful thing.

My goal is to find people who love Origami Owl as much as I do. I know they're out there, so I need to find a way to reach out to them. This business isn't for everyone. But there is a business out there for anyone who will look. You can make a nice income part time or full time. I know there are moms out there who have a hard working husband a few kids, but really would like to be able to have time for herself, fun with friends, and make an additional income to help out the family.

I'm not big on jewelry. Mind you I love jewelry!! Who doesn't?  Maybe you're wondering why I got into this business if I'm NOT a big jewelry person. Well, let me tell you.... I was invited to a Jewelry Bar ( home party) by a friend. I had no idea what it was, but I was curious. When I looked online at the website, my curiosity was a little stronger. I had to see this in person, ( plus it got me out of the house, a good excuse to visit a friend) . I immediately loved the concept of creating a locket with things that have meaning. My first locket I made consisted of a "daisy" because I like to do gardening - a #3 because I have 3 sons - D & L mine and my husbands initials - our birthstone for May which is when we got married - and an Army emblem for my son and DIL who are both in the Army.
I couldn't stop there, I was hooked, so I made a small rose gold locket with a birthstone for each of my grandchildren and added a silver heart that says Nana.

Once I joined the company and started doing in home jewelry bars, I was amazed with the lockets my customers made, either for themselves or a friend, mom, grandmother, or daughter. Each locket truly tells a story. VERY heartwarming.  I have to say,I've done a few other businesses in a a little over 30 years, but I never had this much fun. It truly is rewarding!

About ME!

I was brought up to work hard for what I want. My first  JOB was delivering the local newspaper once a week. I was 9 years old. I received .05 for every paper I sold. My background is in manufacturing. I've worked in 7 different shoe shops, a lumber mill, woolen mill and many part time waitressing jobs to name a few. I loved those jobs.  I need to work with my hands. Make things. My Mom taught me to knit and sew when I was 7 yrs. old. I finally learned to crochet in my 20's. I learned to make candles and sell them at craft shows and to a few local stores.
That's me. It's what I love to do.

Years ago, when I was a single mom, I found the Home Party Business. I tried Tupperware, I loved meeting people, getting my favorite products free or at a discount. But I got bored with it and moved on. Then I tried Avon... 2 weeks.. it wasn't for me. Herbalife... I laughed when Debby tried to tell me about it, who needs that stuff? Who buys that stuff?? Just learn to eat right.. right?  LOL , Well Herbalife showed me things and I learned that our foods really don't have the nutrition it did many moons ago when our grandparents grew thier own. We all need help! I tried some products, more because I felt bad for giving Debby a hard time, but I learned REAL QUICK , what suppplements can do. I never felt better in my entire life. My headaches were gone, my back didn't hurt as much, I had more energy , I lost 30 pounds and fit into a size 6!

Now mind you, I'm NOT trying to sell you anything. This is ME we're talking about. There are many products and services out there for everyone. Not all products and services are good, but if you look, you'll find something for you!! AND... you won't know until you try it. So don't be afraid to try something new, you might be surprised!

Do I still use Herbalife??  It's been 12 years. I stand behind it 100%. But I confess, I'm not "consistant" anymore. Well, sometimes I am.  My Mom is 85 , she's been using it for a year. She's diabetic, and is on 7 different meds. ( down from 9)  But her blood readings have gone down to normal instead of almost 300,  She's lost over 30 pounds, the doc took her off some of her meds, she feels great!! Her health is great!  And although I don't sell it, we still use the products.

I love home business! I love meeting new people. I would say about 20% of the people I know, are people I met through a home business, my Etsy website I use for my candles, craft shows, home parties, meetings, conventions ect... some have become  and still are, my very dear friends.

I have a wonderful husband who works hard. When we met, I was working a full time job at the saw mill and 2 part time jobs. he had his own business, until the town decided to build a road through it.
He found another job, and so did I. Then I got laid off......... permanently. My company decided they could get the work done cheaper in the Dominican Republic. So 4 buildings full of hard working men and women were out of a job. And so it began.

                   Is this a Pyramid??

What do you do, when you lose your job? When 1/2 your paycheck goes to gas to get to work? I moved to the country for a reason. I'm def. not a city girl. I don't mind the hour drive to find a job, but circumstances prevents me from having a job right now. I care for my mom who lives with us. But I need to do something, I need to keep busy. I need to be with other people. OH YA.... I can work from HOME!!!

I have to laugh when people ask.. "Is this a Pyramid Scheme?" Let me explain something, then I'm done for the night.

What is a Pyramid ??? Usually my answer is..." Oh you mean like your JOB?"

You see, so many people really have no idea what they're asking. Somewhere along the line, home based businesses got a bad rap. You have to sell a product or service, then get your friends and family to buy it and so on. Well, I can betcha everyone has bought "something" from a home based business. So why is it so bad? Why do people call it a pyramid?
YES, people that do a home business which involves a product or service, sells it to make money. Either part time or full time. AND, when they HELP others to join thier team, they are helping them to make money too. What the heck is wrong with helping other people make money??

Now a pyramid is like a JOB. You have all the workers doing the work,( at the bottom of the pyramid)  hardly ever getting a raise, you know what you're getting paid every week. You will most likely, never make it to manager position or own the company.  (at the top of the pyramid)  So you never really "Move Up" in your JOB. It's the 40-40-40 plan. You work 40 hours a week for 40 years and retire on 40% of your income. Nothing wrong with that at all! I wish I still had a JOB. I loved my co-workers, I loved the fact I new what my paycheck was going to be. I could easily plan ahead!  But I don't have a JOB , remember it's down in the DR and too far for me to travel.

BUT, if I find a good product, or a good service, something I'd be proud to share with my friends and family.. then maybe... I can build a nice little business for myself and "HELP" others to do the same. I can make my own hours, I can work from home, so I don't have to leave Mom alone all day. ( So turn the pyramid upside down) You start at the bottom and work your way up to all the "other" successful people at the top. Plenty of room at the top! :) Oh and I didn't mention, the tax deductions. Everyone should have some sort of business, makes tax time a joy!

It's not easy, nobody ever said it would be easy. But it's fun!! I make money and I'm working on "helping" others. And the best part is.. I don't have to step on other people to get to the top. I can help them get to the top too, because there's plenty of room up there. Unlike a JOB.

It's not for everyone, but you never know unless you try it. But first, find a product or service you love.

Good night for now!
